Within Ahrefs is a specific "sub-tool" called Keywords Explorer. It can give you an accurate search volume for any keyword you input. 

You can also access additional information like clicks, traffic potential, and ideas for related keywords.

Research Your Competitors

You and your competitors are likely targeting similar keywords. By analyzing the keywords they target, you can better determine which you should prioritize. 

You can do this by checking your competitors’: 

  • Domains and URL: See if the top 10 domains and URLs in your market match or include the keywords you’re planning to use.
  • Titles: See if they are using similar/relevant keywords within their page title tags.
  • Content that is ranking: What kind of content is already popular? To check this, you can use a tool such as Buzzsumo.

Buzzsumo can analyze content that already exists related to specific keywords. This can help you better plan your content strategy.

Using an online content analyzer, you can see what kind of content performs best for certain keywords on specific platforms. 

  • Type of businesses: Learn if you are competing with huge brands, small businesses or new sites
  • Authoritative sites: Check to see how long sites have been established and how many backlinks they have.
