The OptionX Group, a company dedicated to the drilling, boring, and tunnelling industry, hired VFXaddART to create a video that would explain the operation of their specialized microtunnelling machine. The selection of VFXaddART was based on their high ratings, culture fit, value for cost, and aligned company values. A team of 2-5 employees from VFXaddART worked on the project. The challenge was to visually represent the operations of the machine, which occurs underground and hence cannot be filmed. The solution was a detailed 3D animation created by converting and reconstructing multiple machine components from STP files. The animation accurately depicted the drilling process, retraction, material removal, and pipework installation. The result was a technically precise visualization that allowed viewers to fully comprehend the machine's capabilities and workflow, a feat traditional video could not achieve.
