VFXaddART

VFXaddART was hired by OptionX Group, a conglomerate specializing in the drilling, boring, and tunneling industry, to create a detailed video explaining the functionality of their specialized microtunnelling machine. The machine, a world-first in precision underground horizontal drilling and pipeline installation, operates entirely below ground, making traditional filming impossible. VFXaddART was tasked with converting and reconstructing multiple machine components from STP files, including the main microtunnelling unit, drill heads, reamers, drill rods, and support equipment. The team then animated these elements to accurately depict the drilling process, from forward movement to retraction, material removal, and pipework installation. The resulting video provided a technically precise visualization of the machine's capabilities and workflow, offering viewers an understanding that traditional videos could not capture. VFXaddART was chosen for this project due to their high ratings, great culture fit, good value for cost, and alignment with the company's values. The project was executed by a team of 2-5 employees.
