Velebit AI

Velebit AI partnered with Njuškalo, a leading Croatian classified ad site, to develop and maintain high-availability AI systems. The company only had a small internal data science team, so they needed an experienced AI partner. Velebit AI developed Njuškalo's entire data engineering infrastructure and deployed the necessary AI models on a large scale. These included a Recommender Classified Ads system, an Automatic Ads Categorization system based on images and texts, and a real-time camera-based object detection system. The engagement, which began in May 2021, is ongoing, and Velebit AI also provides consulting services to Njuškalo's internal team.

A health startup hired Velebit AI to evaluate the feasibility of computer vision for various problems relevant to the startup. The project involved extensive design, implementation, and optimization. After interviewing several vendors, the CEO of the startup chose Velebit AI for its professionalism, technical expertise, and delivery. The project required extensive knowledge of machine learning, computer vision, and data management. Mladen F., an engineer and scientist at Velebit AI, was the primary resource for this project.

Velebit AI was hired by the Department of Informatics and Digital Technologies at the University of Rijeka for a project funded by the National Science Foundation. The project involved implementing language and classification models for the characterization of information spreading on social media during the COVID-19 pandemic. Velebit AI trained two language models, fine-tuned them for COVID-19 data, and implemented sentiment classifiers for analyzing tweets in the Croatian language. They also implemented models for retweet predictions. The project, which started in July 2020, was completed in two parts in July 2021 and December 2021.
