Underscope was hired by a Boston-based fast-casual restaurant chain to develop a custom ordering platform with web and mobile versions. Initially, Underscope's role was to serve as a consultant, training the restaurant's team on React and helping with React Native. They had React Native developers join the team to build the ordering app, using Ruby on Rails on the backend. They also advised on whether to use MobX or Redux, providing suggestions to simplify the development experience. The team met a tight deadline to launch the app and has since made numerous updates, including features such as company accounts, Apple Pay, and program promos. Future plans include adding gift cards and scan-to-pay features. The restaurant chose Underscope based on their expertise, willingness to work with an existing team, location, price point, and feedback. Currently, three resources from Underscope are still working with the restaurant, and the engagement has been ongoing since October 2018.
