Highlights from Recent Projects
SOFTVAN partnered with Whyte Automations, a company specializing in smart home and office systems, to develop and integrate Amazon Alexa functionality into their existing system. The project, which began in January 2018, involved building the Alexa skills from scratch and updating Alexa commands into the system. The SOFTVAN team, composed of four members, utilized Python and Node.js and also had to understand Firebase, the platform on which the system is based. The enhanced system allows users to control home equipment already configured into the system through Alexa using voice commands, after authenticating themselves as the owner. In addition to Alexa, SOFTVAN also developed Google Home skills for Whyte Automations and provided updates for both voice assistants. The partnership between the two companies is ongoing, with a current project focused on image recognition technology for a government organization in India.
