SoftSeq was hired by Petcube, a pet technology company, to perform a third-party security audit for their new generation of pet cameras integrated with Amazon Alexa Built-in. The primary objective of the project was to ensure the new hardware products and software stack met Amazon Alexa's security requirements. SoftSeq, who had previously worked with Petcube on a web application security audit, prepared an audit plan based on Amazon's requirements, guidelines, and OWASP ASVS/IOT standards. The audit was conducted using sample devices and summarized in a report. The SoftSeq team also provided necessary clarifications to the Amazon Alexa security team and assisted the Petcube team in planning improvements. The project was carried out by two dedicated SoftSeq security engineers in collaboration with the Petcube engineering team. The results were satisfactory and met the project's goals.
