Smart Data

Smart Data was hired by iDocData Software for the purpose of converting their existing software from a client/server model to a web-based application. The goal was to scale and support the software across multiple offices and hospitals, with minimal impact on the workflow of physicians and patient care. The software was originally built using Java and XML, which Smart Data successfully converted to React and Json - a more modern technology stack, without disrupting the underlying data structure or affecting the medical records of patients. A team of five, including a scrum master and multiple developers, worked on this project initially, with the team structure evolving over time.

The most significant achievement of Smart Data was the successful conversion of the complex data structure that had been customized to multiple physicians and surgeons, without affecting their workflow. They also recreated the underlying mechanism that allowed iDocData to customize each physician's UI and document structure, a key feature of the original software. The data was stored and accessed using an AWS cloud server and interfaced with Epic, a leading electronic medical records system through an HL-7 interface. The project is ongoing, currently employing a hybrid-model utilizing developers both in the US and India.
