Simple Thread

Simple Thread collaborated with Dominion Energy, a solar development company, to improve and simplify their equipment ratings monitoring system on the electrical transmission system. The project involved the development of a web app using a cloud database that allows users to interact with the website and manipulate cloud database information. Simple Thread was given the freedom to design the tool around the company's needs and used Figma to create the designs and prototype of the app. The team consisted of 3-4 people, including designers and developers. The partnership started in March 2021 and is ongoing.

In another project, Simple Thread worked with Seasonal Roots, an online farmers market, to stabilize their website and build new components and features. The team reviewed the existing code and identified areas for improvement. Using Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and React, they expanded the website's functionality, helped with load balancing for AWS, and created a pipeline to connect the WordPress platform to the website. They also built a new premium item function, made cosmetic adjustments to the menu, improved backend reports, and advised on improving Google and Facebook Analytics. The partnership began in July 2019 and is ongoing.

Simple Thread also partnered with Dominion Energy’s electric transmission planning team to develop a cloud-based project management system to handle project information for regulatory reporting. The project involved a discovery phase to understand the existing tool's shortcomings and design a new, more functional and efficient tool. Simple Thread helped interview users to understand their needs and incorporated this feedback into the application's design. The team consisted of several core members, including the company's co-founder, a senior UX designer, a developer, and a project manager. The project started in May 2021, with the discovery phase wrapping up in June 2022, and is currently in the development phase.
