Highlights from Recent Projects
SGW Designworks was engaged by Bastian Solutions, a company that automates material handling processes, to assist in the complex design engineering and review of a large subsystem integral to a larger project. SGW was involved in the conceptual ideation, design reviews, and creation of initial concept sketches and diagrams. They provided valuable insights from their experience and worked closely with the engineering team of Bastian Solutions to ensure the design would meet project needs. The team from SGW was flexible and adapted quickly to the unique project planning and resource allocation method of the client company. They were often onsite to communicate the project status and work through any constraints.
Inovus Solar, a developer of commercial-grade solar lighting, hired SGW Designworks to develop an IP-rated enclosure for electronics in a solar lighting product. The project was divided into two phases. In the first phase, SGW identified a low-volume enclosure solution that required little or no tooling cost. They interfaced with the electrical engineering team to define the enclosure's needs and constraints, researched available off-the-shelf units, and developed preliminary designs of a custom solution. In the second phase, as projected volumes increased, SGW focused on developing a higher volume enclosure. They developed initial concepts for a fully optimized, custom enclosure, sourced a 3D printed prototype of the unit, and optimized the design for manufacturing and tooling.
Titan Manufacturing, a construction company, hired SGW Designworks to analyze a linkage system in a piece of heavy equipment to identify what was causing a specific problem and make design recommendations to fix it. SGW provided clear design analysis, test procedures, and thoughtful discussions on the best path forward for the project. They provided weekly updates to project status, billing, and expectations for their deliverables. The client company found the experience pleasurable and worth the time and investment.
