Mako Design + Invent was hired by Clasp Magic, a company that provides a solution for clasp bracelet attachment, to design, prototype, assist with patents, and connect with manufacturers. The project started with a design phase, which took three months and involved monthly in-person meetings and approval of all drawings. This was followed by a 12-month prototyping phase, with monthly meetings and other approvals via email. Mako Design + Invent also facilitated connections with patent lawyers and a reliable manufacturer in China. The project team comprised of four people and despite a few staff changes over the years, the project was successful and the client continues to work with the manufacturer connected by Mako.

In another project, Mako Design + Invent was hired by CNCT Coolers, Inc., a company that sells premium hard coolers custom designed for unique Tesla storage spaces. The client found Mako through an online search and chose them because of their geographic proximity and aligned company values. The team, comprising of 6-10 employees, was tasked to design a hard cooler with Tesla aesthetics, premium performance, and the ability to fit in the unique storage space. The design also had to be easy to manufacture in the USA at a cost that would allow for reasonable pricing in the premium market. The client communicated with Mako primarily through in-person meetings, emails, and messaging apps.
