Highlights from Recent Projects
Hipo worked with Avocare, a virtual care company, to develop a mobile and web application that connects patients with physicians online. The project began with a UX design and strategy phase, which evolved into a larger scope than initially planned. Despite this, the client was pleased with the final product. The app includes a messaging interface that complies with Canada's Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). It also has an intuitive user interface and features that allow users to message their physician, schedule appointments, and request prescription refills. Hipo also developed an AI-driven chatbot to automate appointment bookings. The project lasted from January to June 2017, and the client invested over $100,000.
Hipo collaborated with Fieldguide, a company that builds image recognition technology, to develop a mobile app for both Android and iOS, as well as a web app. The client provided interface design mockups and functional requirements, and Hipo built the apps from end to end. They also developed the backend and API infrastructure for the web app. The core technology has shipped, and the second version of the Android and iOS apps has been launched. The infrastructure and website are being scaled up to accommodate over 20 million images. The collaboration started in January or February 2015 and is ongoing, with an average expenditure of roughly $35,000 per month.
Hipo partnered with Tyndale House Publishers to develop an iOS and Android app that interacts with print Bibles to enrich the reader's experience. The app, which can adapt to mobile and tablet displays, was developed based on the client's detailed specs on fonts, visuals, and relative sizes. The app features a visual capture function that can recognize the reader's location in a book and retrieve and display related content. A light version of the app with limited features was released a few months ago, and the full version is set to launch in October 2018. The project began in December 2017 and is ongoing.
