Force by Design assisted a school and community-based nonprofit agency in Marin County transition from a paper-based business to Salesforce technology. The company's first major project involved creating a clinical recordkeeping system for counselors. The second and more complex undertaking was transferring a paper-based AmeriCorps program, involving numerous partnerships with agencies and schools throughout the Bay Area, onto the web through the Force.com platform. Force by Design tailored the solutions to the company's business processes, providing training and iterative development cycles. The initiative, which involved around 150 different organizations, was completed in three phases and cost approximately a quarter of a million dollars.

Force by Design also worked with a San Francisco-based nonprofit company, assisting them to integrate their disparate databases through Salesforce. The project involved considerable customization to accommodate the company's specific needs, including client, employer contacts, and volunteer data. One of the main challenges was report generation, which Force by Design addressed by finding free software that allowed the company to copy information from Salesforce to Access for creating complex reports. This project, which cost around $100,000, was completed in 2008, but the relationship has continued with ongoing training and support. The company's president, Mikhail, also conducts pro-bono Salesforce overview classes for the nonprofit's clients.
