Highlights from Recent Projects
Entropy developed an iOS/Android app for LBC, the UK's leading commercial speech radio station. The app was designed to provide mobile access to the station's paid podcast service, which was previously only available through their online platform. Entropy worked closely with LBC's internal team to design the wireframes and establish user flows. One of the major challenges was integrating the app with LBC's existing web platform, which hosted all of the podcasts and subscriptions. Entropy ensured that the apps synced properly with this database, allowing users to access their subscriptions through the mobile apps. The project lasted from 2014-2015, with Entropy providing various follow-ups and updates afterward.
Entropy partnered with the world's largest university press to build consumer-facing websites for a global languages program. The program focused on low-resource languages with millions of speakers but few written resources, dictionaries, or learning tools. The websites were built from scratch, with Entropy integrating tools and products for the press's new data model and data platform. Entropy also developed a new dictionary editing system to handle the press's new data model and data formats. The ongoing engagement began in 2015.
Entropy was hired by United Ideas, a web and mobile development company, to create two different web applications for a client in the healthcare industry. The first application was designed to explore data in an engaging and memorable way, while the second tested doctors' understanding of a new medicine. The apps were developed in Ruby on Rails, offering high video quality and requiring authenticated phone numbers to sign in. Entropy also conducted a penetration test and provided recommendations to help United Ideas' developers fix vulnerabilities. The team at Entropy delivered their prototypes and options for review within a tight schedule.
