Def Method

Def Method was hired by New York Angels, an investment group, to update a web app used to facilitate voting among the investors. The app, which was previously developed in a sandbox, was minimally functional but was working on an expiring tech. Def Method upgraded the Ruby on Rails infrastructure, added new features as requested, and now maintains and upgrades the app annually. The team, usually consisting of a project manager and a developer, also conducts tests whenever updates are made. The collaboration, which began in October 2016, is ongoing.

Def Method was engaged by a small startup at Wal-Mart to augment their staff. The firm was responsible for hiring product managers to support the team, writing requirements, and organizing work for engineers. The team consisted of one product manager provided by Def Method. The engagement, which began in January 2015, is ongoing and the company has so far invested approximately $1.5 million–$2 million in the project.

ArtsPool, a cooperative providing administrative services for New York arts nonprofits, hired Def Method to streamline their data intake process. The firm built several web forms to intake new hire and grant application data and a system for creating and applying standard workflows to tasks in their systems. The technologies used were Ruby on Rails and Javascript. The project team consisted of a senior developer, a junior developer, and a project manager. The engagement also served as a mentorship opportunity for the client's development team.
