Def Method

Def Method collaborated with the New York Angels, an investor group, to upgrade their web app. Initially, the app was developed in a sandbox and was minimally functional. However, the technology was nearing expiration, and the version used was no longer going to be supported. Def Method stepped in to upgrade their Ruby on Rails infrastructure, adding requested features and conducting ongoing maintenance and upgrades. The team also performs testing whenever the app is updated. The collaboration began in October 2016 and continues to the present, with an investment of over $10,000.

Def Method worked with a small startup at Wal-Mart to augment their staff. The company was looking to hire product managers to support their team, write requirements, and organize the work for engineers. Def Method provided a single product manager to fulfill these roles. The partnership began in January 2015 and is ongoing, with the startup investing around $1.5 million to $2 million so far.

ArtsPool, a worker and member-owned cooperative providing shared administrative services for New York arts nonprofits, engaged Def Method to standardize their data intake processes. The company required standardized data intake for grant applications and new hires, as well as the ability to apply preset workflows to tasks within the system. Def Method built several web forms for new hire and grant application data intake and a system for creating and applying standard workflows to tasks. The project involved three team members: a senior developer, a junior developer, and a project manager. The technologies used included Ruby on Rails and Javascript.
