Highlights from Recent Projects
CrossComm collaborated with a software and market research provider to create a virtual reality (VR) experience for the latter's end client. They developed software and visual assets to facilitate a 3D experience at a client conference. The CrossComm team was also present at the conference to ensure the smooth execution of the VR experience using Oculus headsets. The project, which ran from July to September 2022, saw an investment of approximately $50,000. The client expressed satisfaction with CrossComm's role in the project, particularly their hands-on support during the conference.
For an educational startup, CrossComm developed an augmented reality (AR) demonstration app compatible with Microsoft HoloLens. The app could identify the surface anatomical markers of a person and customize a reference anatomical model within the app to that individual. CrossComm also provided guidance regarding the client's intellectual property related to 3D rendering and customization. The ongoing project, which began in December 2021, has seen an investment of a little over $100,000. The client has commended CrossComm for their technical expertise and ability to deliver an AR application meeting their requirements.
In partnership with Karmanos Cancer Institute, CrossComm developed and facilitated an AR/VR program for at-risk students interested in STEM careers. Initially, the program used VR headsets to provide immersive experiences in operating rooms, ICUs, and research laboratories. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the scarcity of VR headsets, CrossComm suggested switching to AR. The team then successfully executed a special summit using AR technology, providing a virtual view of the brain, red blood cells, and the coronavirus. The project, which began in June 2020, saw an investment of around $100,000. The client praised CrossComm for their innovative approach and commitment to enhancing STEM education.
