Craftars was engaged by an interactive design agency to create an augmented reality (AR) app for the Chinese New Year. The app had to display an AR dancing lion that users could take pictures with. Craftars was responsible for the creative aspects of the project, providing sketches and photo references for the virtual lion. They also worked with the agency to sculpt the lion in 3D and integrate it into the app. One of the main challenges was to ensure the lion constantly faced the screen, regardless of the phone's movement. Craftars worked through this challenge and successfully delivered both iOS and Android versions of the app. The project, which cost around $20,000, was started in December 2016 and launched in February 2017.
