Craftars, a renowned augmented reality development company, was contracted by an interactive design agency to develop an AR mobile app for Chinese New Year. The app was designed to display an AR dancing lion, with which users could take pictures. Craftars was responsible for the creative aspect of the project, working directly with the client and consulting with the design agency on how the creative would work on the mobile screen. They provided sketches and photo references for the virtual lion and collaborated with the agency's team to sculpt the lion in 3D and integrate it into the app. A unique challenge of the project was to ensure the lion constantly faced the screen, regardless of the phone's movement. Craftars successfully delivered an iOS and Android version of the product in February 2017, after starting the project in December 2016. The project cost was around $20,000.
