CODEFUSION was hired by GBU mbH, a simulation service provider, to develop a software solution for monitoring internal rail transport of pig iron. The software was intended to collect, process, and visualize location data from GPS and RFID. The company also wanted a reliable IT system that could aggregate, filter, and synchronize master and transaction data, reducing manual errors and increasing transparency. CODEFUSION developed a robust system that could handle erroneous data from RFID and GPS devices. The system improved and synchronized the master and transaction data of various production sites, reduced manual data entry, and made transport processes more transparent. As a result, transport operations became more efficient, requiring fewer locomotives and reducing the use of transport wagons to 90% of the original requirement. This led to significant energy cost savings and facilitated processes in the steelworks. The system has been in continuous use since its implementation and was successfully updated in 2018 and 2024.
