Valmet, a global developer and supplier of technologies, automation, and services for the pulp, paper, and energy industries, hired BJIT for Application Management Services (AMS) for several applications such as PLM and PDM. They also needed application and integration development, application testing, application monitoring and ongoing development for engineering system applications. The primary goal was to ensure efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective services, with a special focus on keeping the applications running 24/7.
BJIT was selected as the preferred vendor due to their cost-effective service offerings and a positive previous experience with a smaller project. The collaboration started in 2006 and grew to over 100 people, including project managers on-site and delivery teams offshore. The first task involved end-user release testing for Valmet's PDM application, which led to further development tasks and eventually, the expansion of AMS to other applications. An important part of the project was the development of a 24/7 monitoring and automatic alerting system for the applications.
Valmet's application service manager led the application services, including budgeting, task tracking, planning, and more, while BJIT executed the service tasks. The project proved successful, fulfilling Valmet's goals for efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective application management services. BJIT's commitment to keeping the applications up and running 24/7 was particularly appreciated.
