Avantgarde Labs

Avantgarde Labs was engaged by 4D Energy, an AI trading company, to develop an autonomous, AI-based trading system for the European Power Exchange. The system was designed to be highly available and fully integrated with one of the four transmission system operators in Germany. Avantgarde Labs designed and developed the algorithm, using technologies such as Google Cloud Platform, Vaadin, and MongoDB. The project team consisted of two full-time software developers from Avantgarde Labs, all four managing directors, and a master student working on his thesis about the impact of weather prognosis on the electricity market. The system was successfully tested on the EPEX SPOT test system, resulting in a strategy that generates revenue.

Paessler AG, a network monitoring software company, hired Avantgarde Labs to replace its outdated B2B shop system with a new eCommerce platform based on microservices. The new platform was designed to overcome the limitations of the old system, which was costly to maintain and upgrade. Avantgarde Labs developed several modules for the new platform, including a licensing service, an activation service, a search service, an admin portal, and an adapter service. The project team initially consisted of four developers and two architects from Avantgarde Labs, although the resources varied over the course of the project due to budgetary constraints. The new platform has enhanced Paessler's business model by enabling faster and more independent adaptation and implementation of customer use cases.
