AppTier was selected by a privately held investment company to install the OpenText product, Livelink, in 2004. The company's Chief Information Officer had previously worked with AppTier and was familiar with their expertise. The project, which lasted around a year and a half, involved rolling out the document management system to different business units and training them. AppTier also created a physical objects database within Livelink that tracks collateral documents for the legal department. AppTier's involvement did not end after the project's completion; they continued to provide support through upgrades and software patches. The company is currently in a managed services contract with AppTier.

For a pharmaceutical company aiming to transition from a paper-based system to a more rigorous and disciplined approach to document management, AppTier was their choice. The Director of IT within the company preferred to work with smaller boutique consulting firms and was impressed with AppTier's owner, Pete Fucarino. AppTier has been involved in every stage of the project, from strategy formulation to deployment, training, development, and testing. The company chose OpenText for its functionality and the vendors' demonstrated capabilities. The project is still ongoing with an expected duration of about three to four more years.
