26bitz was hired by Next Step Foundation, an organization focused on empowering marginalized individuals, to develop an AI Mental Health Chatbot. The primary objective was to create an empathetic chatbot specifically designed for mental health contexts, with a Swahili language-based LLM. Additionally, the chatbot needed to offer 24/7 support and be compatible with low-bandwidth environments. 26bitz was selected for this project due to their cultural fit, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with the company's values. The key deliverable was a custom LLM built on top of Jacaranda Health's open-source Uzila Llama model, intended to provide mental health support for Youth with Disabilities in Kenya. The project was successful and the client was satisfied with the results.
