Xyonix

Xyonix was hired by Madrona Venture Labs to develop a machine learning application for a venture capital firm. The project required audio and video processing, natural language processing expertise, and experience in building cloud-based, scalable model training and inference pipelines. The project followed an iterative development process, starting with a simple and basic design and gradually adding complexity as more data was gathered. Xyonix's pragmatic approach helped manage risk and timelines, allowing for a product to be tested by users sooner. The technologies used included AWS cloud infrastructure and open-source machine learning and data science tools. The client expressed satisfaction with Xyonix's ability to connect product and user experience to underlying machine learning concepts.

Delta Dental of Washington engaged Xyonix for data analysis and model production to understand individual customer usage of their services and predict coverage termination. Xyonix began with a Pathfinder phase, meeting stakeholders and analyzing representative data about pipelines. The project switched focus to understanding factors that convince people to retain their individual coverage. Xyonix worked on refining the data, and their findings were crucial in the decision to engage them on a longer-term basis to create a production-ready model.
