Highlights from Recent Projects
Big Nerd Ranch worked with Care+ Ventures, a startup that developed an ICU software module for mobile apps. The project involved building an iOS, Android, and web back-end system for the company. Big Nerd Ranch improved the design of the app, started on the iOS and web back-end, and then worked on the Android version. They incorporated the platform onto Aptible, a HIPAA-certified secure environment that runs on Amazon web services. The company invested more than $200,000 in the project. The Android product was completed, but the relationship with Big Nerd Ranch is still active.
For PartCycle Technologies LLC, Big Nerd Ranch was tasked to build the initial minimum viable product for their online e-commerce marketplace for recycled auto parts. The project involved identifying and building solutions for both sellers and buyers. Big Nerd Ranch brought in a team of senior backend and frontend developers and an application designer to build the initial version of the marketplace. They implemented modern development practices such as Agile software development, test-driven development, and continuous integration. They also defined the structure and feature set of the MVP and were the architects of the technical infrastructure.
Orkin Pest Control partnered with Big Nerd Ranch for app development. The goal was to make their outside sales force more effective in front of customers. Over the past three years, Big Nerd Ranch has developed around 11 or 12 separate iPad applications for Orkin Pest Control. The first application involved taking almost all of the digital collateral and making it possible for seamless presentations to be customized on the fly by the account manager on the iPad. The second application digitized the whole sales process, from graphing to creating a scope of service, developing a proposal all within the application. The company invested between $200,000 to a million in the initiative.
